Some assignments are simply irresistibly fascinating. Moyo, one of the more interesting restaurant chain with an ethnic South African touch hired me to photograph, one of their new restaurants in Cape Town. “Photograph the restaurant and  their guests as they were having fun and enjoying the new venue.” This was the assignment more or less. There was a minor challenge. The restaurant was not open yet, well  actually it was a construction site full of rubble and dust. Just the way a proper construction site should look like. Some elements of the restaurant were finished and a lot were not. During my first site visit, I thought to myself that this will be an interesting assignment and finding the right angle and lighting shouldn’t be too difficult.

It ended up being a great experience. Everyone was motivated and even though we met at 7 in the morning, the staff of the restaurant who volunteered in the shoot were a bit tired, but keen on the assignment.  After finding the look, we were after, things went smoothly and we moved relatively fast between different setups. Andre assisted once again and we found ourselves in interesting discussion on setting the lights.

Now I have to visit the restaurant after it opened and check it out myself.
