6th Cape Town Photography Meetup
Last week we met for the 6th Cape Town Photography Meetup, this time on location in Hout Bay Harbour. We were lucky to have two (actually 3 including a baby) models with us, partners of two of the meetup members. The weather promised to be good and turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected and luckily when the rain started, we were already indoors at the Hout Bay Wharf and enjoyed some good chats over a cup of coffee or two.
We worked with light modifiers during daylight and did the first set of images without any light modification and brought in a reflector as balance for the backlight from the sun. The effect was not as strong as hoped as the sun was mostly behind clouds, so we did something I didn’t really planned to do. We worked with a wireless flash. It was rather interesting, setting this up as not everyone worked with a Nikon and we had to set the flash as a slave. That meant also to set all cameras to the same f stop and shutter speed in relation to the manual intensity on the flash. Using this method, the participants had to shoot one after the other and give the flash enough time to recycle in between.
It was one of those photo events, where I turned up not to take pictures myself, but rather found myself more in the picture. You can find the results at our Flickr group
You can join the group here: We will meet again on the 24th of October.
