We met on Saturday for the 5th time for the Cape Town Photography Meetup. We welcomed two new visitors to the group and it is so much fun to learn from each other. The experience in the group ranges from the absolute novice to the very experienced photographer. We discussed a lot of good images, but there is one image that really stood out for me, as it is very unique.
Tatum took this amazing photograph. When I saw the picture, my brain started thinking on how I would create a image like this. It would involve a lot of equipment, flashlight, tripod, diffuser,.. I would take dozens of images to get things just right. Tatum thinks different.
She photographed the image with daylight only. The camera was attached to a tripod. Instead of relying on the autofocus of the camera, she set the camera to manual focus, by holding the glass where she wanted it to be. She threw the glass in an even movement and manually triggered the camera. It took her one shot for the result. Amazing!
If you want exposure to creative people like this, come visit us at our next meetup. Send me an email and I keep you up to date, where and when we will meet the next time.
