Corporate Photography – Architecture

Car Dealership BuildingCorporate photography involves often not only people, but also architecture. Sometimes I am invited to photograph buildings only as in the case for this car dealership. Buildings are different to people in the sense that they are normally much bigger and have a tendency to sit still. I can’t move the object, but have to work with the location. Waiting for the evening or photographing before sunrise often improves the atmosphere and look of a building. That’s what I did here as well. I waited for the evening light. The balance between the light inside  and outside changes continuously. Sometimes the earlier shots have the right feel and look and on other occasions, waiting for the sky to darken imroves the image. In both cases, you can find yourself in a challenge. Most of the light is coming either from behind the building or from the inside, which leaves the front darker than you want. There were no spotlights on the front lawn directed at the building.

I worked with a couple Nikon SB800 strobes, which I triggered wireless from my camera. Even though the strobes are relatively small, they helped a lot in improving the image. The images were edited in Apple Aperture and NikSoftware plugins.
