Learning Photography

D90_2009-11-28_026How do you learn photography? Where do you get inspiration? Where can you learn new techniques?

I love reading and have been learning a lot about photography through reading books. The local library in my hometown had a good collection of high quality photography books. That was a starting point.

The more you practice, the better your pictures get. I think, I read it as Chase Jarvis’s blog that your photos improve after your first 10000. Though, I work as professional photographer, my learning of the craft continues. There are so many great photographers, who share their knowledge.

I mentioned some of them before:

Joe McNally

Strobist

Chase Jarvis

David Tejada

Zack Arias

All of these photographers are great in what they are doing and you can learn.

There is another resource, which is available for free: Flickr.

I have been browsing through Flickr a lot during the last couple of days and found some great photography by amateurs and professionals. The great thing about Flickr is that you can connect with fellow photographers and can ask questions in forums. One of my favorite Flickr groups is the Strobist Flickr group.

If you live in Cape Town, you can connect with photographers in the group, I created, the Cape Town Photography Meetup Group, or with the Cape Town Flick Meetup Group, or the Cape Town Group.

Enjoy these resources and let me know, if you have any resources, you can recommend.
